Always feel a mix of melancholy, longing and hope when I catch sight of a skein of geese off on its southward migration for the winter

Today is our 10th anniversary living in Scotland - we were two 24 & 26 year-old babies, with two suitcases, barely any savings and only each other. But Scotland embraced us, this country felt like home from the moment I first breathed it in, and it still feels like a dream to call Scotland home 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Run today was beautifully autumnal and unusually warm. So lucky to have all this 5 min from home 🍂🍁🍃

This is my current level of patience for the racist cunts reacting in my Instagram DMs to a silly little post cheering Mamdani's victory

And here are some of the photos my husband took of the otter earlier today at the Water of Leith 🦦📸

Naseem Al-Radee - a 33-year old government worker abducted by Israel and held without charges for 22 months, spending 100 days in an undergeound cell, losing one third of his body weight and suffering beatings and abuse.

The day he was freed he found out his wife & children had been massacred.

A friend's birthday was coming up and I challenged myself to paint her wee pug as a surprise gift. A big departure from my usual abstract work but she was quite emotional upon receiving it, so, success!

And not just me: when my husband is not working as a dentist, seeing dozens of patients p/ week, he's volunteering his free time at a band in Edinburgh for no pay where they do many community events, lighten up places w/ Christmas carols and more.

Migrants already volunteer and contribute so much.
September 30, 2025 at 8:54 AM
The implication from Labour is that we, migrants, don't contribute enough, don't integrate enough, don't work enough.

Meanwhile I've volunteered in political activism for no pay, I've taken Gàidhlig evening classes, I make a living as an artist creating abstract renditions of Scottish landscapes.
