I'll defend it by saying this could also happen without the pusher on a regular QB sneak. The pushing part didn't affect this play.

What is the realistic fix for the run game? I feel like everyone involved in it is just worse this year and I'm not sure "everyone do better" is a plan.

I agree. I don't think they throw the flag if he pushes him down with his hands and rolls over. Also it was probably in the "head or neck area" if that matters
