Legend has it that when Jane Goodall learned to crawl, she hid in a henhouse to watch a chicken lay an egg. Over the next 91 years until her passing this week, she devoted her life to reshaping the way we perceive humans' closest living biological relatives and the natural world at-large. RIP JG. 🙏

Congress told us to “Go Fund Yourself.”
And with your help, we can.

Our federal funding might be gone, but we’re still here. Public media needs your support now more than ever.

NeighborHealth's Desiree Millet to @gbhnews.bsky.social: "Substance use itself is a community issue, and if it's not being addressed at a community level, then we're missing a really big component of it. And this machine itself is addressing so many different areas."

56 years ago this week, Judy Griffin took a risk by hitchhiking to Woodstock after her car broke down. She poked her head into the window of a nearby 1967 VW Beetle and asked for a ride. Jerry was in the back seat. Half a century, two sons and five grandchildren later, the two are still together.

We just won big! Apple has named "Scratch & Win" from @gbhnews.bsky.social and @prx.org one of the 10 best podcasts of 2025 so far, calling it one of "the kind of shows you don’t want to end, and the kind you want to share with your friends."

Congrats to the team for this recognition! 🎉

Today's letter of the day is A for Accessibility! GBH has led the way in media accessibility innovation for decades. And Executive Director of Accessibility Donna Danielewski has helped to continue that legacy ever since she stepped through our doors 17 years ago.

Federal funding is gone.
But we're not going anywhere.

This is very bad. Millions of Americans will be impacted by Congress defunding public media, and especially by the decision to claw back already appropriated funding. But despite the challenges we face, we are still here, and are committed as ever to our mission and to you.

PBS filmmaker Ken Burns on the rescission bill that would claw back federal funding for public media: “I think we're cutting off our nose to spite our face with this thing.”
