Don't get me wrong - the start button & late payment help - are great for writers who are working. But what about all those who aren't?

What are YOU doing to protect our immigrant communities? You haven't spoken out against the National Guard deployment. Why is the LAPD helping ICE? GET ICE OUT OF HERE.

I'm confused - didn't the guild recognize the union effort?

Fascinating about them removing the language of the trial committee from the ballot measure. Seems like they put their finger on the scale every step of the way. Why were they so afraid of a fair vote?

Grammar issue. I meant half the membership has lost faith in the WGA... but you get me. was feeling impassioned so wrote too quickly

Had the WGA board simply followed the trial committee’s recommendations, they could have avoided creating such a visible and damaging divide. Really bad miscalculation WGA. Makes us look weak as we enter into 2026.

They should sue. The amount of board involvement in this feels criminal.

And if the WGA wants to speak to you about any gray area situation... hire an outside attorney. The guild will use what you say against you.

I urge the WGA board to engage in real dialogue with the membership—to ask what we actually think, instead of telling us what we should think.Stop managing perception or enforcing unity at all costs. Listen and earn trust. The divide in this vote didn’t come out of nowhere.

And the fact that Doyle got the public censure before the appeal process was complete is appalling. Like what does a removal of a public censure look like. Will the guild release a statement?

I'm troubled with the active campaigning by board members on this vote, rather than respecting the democratic process. That kind of interference undermines trust and tarnishes the integrity of our leadership.
May 9, 2025 at 10:54 PM
I'm nervous how the vote will come out. Especially as I've heard that some board members and captains have been campaigning for the more punitive actions.
May 9, 2025 at 4:50 PM
And my favorite part is that the WGA board changed the constitution to make this an online vote. but supposedly they were bound by the constitution in blasting the names of writers appealing before due process was complete. Potentially career ending.

Instead of telling me why the board is 100% right in their punitive recommendations, talk to your members and answer concerns. Why are there different punishments than trail committee recommendations?
May 8, 2025 at 9:21 PM
At the last member meeting, there was a lot of talk about how great the board has been at helping with late payments. But honestly, that kind of praise rings hollow when many board members aren't actively working themselves.
May 8, 2025 at 9:21 PM
I’ve been feeling increasingly disheartened by the tone and messaging coming from the board. It sometimes feels like there’s an effort to manage or steer how members should think, rather than engaging with the full spectrum of our experiences and concerns.

I believe that scabs should have consequences. I do not agree with the consequences the board chose, that went against the trial committee recommendations.
May 8, 2025 at 9:21 PM
I'm not opposed to consequences for scabbing. However, the trial committees gave recommendations, and the board chose to disregard those recommendations. This isn't about guilt or innocence but about the level of appropriate punishment.
