When the attending basically looks
at you and says, “normally we don’t admit someone with just a low grade fever and colitis—but I looked at your chart and god damn…”

I did not think that I would add “have a stroke at 41” to my catastrophic illness 2025 bingo card.

Hello, hospital my old friend. Glad to be in this bed again. Because this morning I was dry-heaving, and my fever was too high for resting. And the infection is working through my guts. Oh man, this sucks.

Well, that was something fucking else. We’re done with that shit. #cancer #oxliplatin #chemoallergy

I did not miss having “J.D. Vance” strapped to me for 24 hours.

Resume chemo today w/ new immunotherapy drug. Got some news that CEA post surgery is really high, though no as high as before treatment started. We’re hopeful it will go back down bc no evidence of chemo resistance from neoadjuvant rounds. It remains a coin toss.

So it appears BCBS authorized my surgery and has now decided not to pay for it. Like what did they expect to say “Yeah, go do it,” and then not pay a dime? Gtfo.

Little update: Had a CT yesterday at UAMS as a baseline for treatment. Results came back with no visible evidence of any current malignancy. We will be starting adjuvant chemo next week.

There’s nothing quite like sleeping in your own space. There’s no place like home.

Well, Texas it’s been…well, it’s been. Thanks to our wonderful friends and hosts—thank you to Dr. Badgwell and his team at M.D. Anderson for giving us a fighting chance to live.

Tomorrow, I’m going home.

“Owning the libs” should be seen in the same light as “Death to America” at this point. Both groups want to fundamentally destroy the American system and ideals that show such promise if fully pursued.

“Most” is debatable but this is inherently stupid and proof that the only way to keep these pyromaniacs from burning down the country, and the world, is to permanently remove them from power.

Hey folks, I’m still alive. Surgery went and I’m on the road to being released tomorrow. Won’t know overall prognosis until stomach pathology comes back. Been sipping clear liquids and only need light meds for pain. Thanks to all who’ve thought of me and my family.

This is it. Goodbye stomach, it’s been real.

Some people wonder why coming to MD Anderson for my surgery is so important, and my response is: You just don’t know until you’ve seen it yourself. UAMS would have been fine or procedure but the medical staff here is different the experience more wholistic.

Well, looks like I’m losing my stomach on Saturday. 🥹
