Very much this. Conservatives not an option for many I think as this group is also strongly pro-EU.
Lib Dem’s an odd mix of further left (economically) than Labour and pro-market Conservative refugees. Being socially liberal is what binds this coalition, but would be tensions if anywhere near govt.

Used to fart, but it’s definitely trump now.

This is how it works in the Singapore system. Generally we are talking about 99 year leases with 40-50 years remaining. The “en-bloc” premium occurs because significant no. of leaseholders value property above current average selling price. Premium seems to be ~20% or so in most cases.

True, but in many cases the lease value of just the land is non-trivial. I would imagine that, say, 800 years remaining lease on a plot would not be far from freehold building plot value.

Singapore “en-bloc” system attempts to address: freeholder + developer make an offer to buy out remaining lease (typically at a premium over current selling price). If 80% of leaseholders agree, deal is done.
Not perfect, but a reasonable model.

Presumably the freeholder would have to buy the leaseholders out of their leases.

If, say, 800 years of 999 lease remaining, freeholder would buy this out.

Singapore has “en-bloc” system to address this issue. Isn’t perfect, but probably a decent starting point

We’re going to build a wall. A cyber wall that stops even bigly vulnerabilities. So big, so strong. No one can build a stronger cyber wall than me.

Agree - but this really all came about due to the £100k cliff. Might be wise to do something about that.
Yes, I know £100k is a lot, but tax should rise progressively, and we are otherwise seeing distortions as a result because people want to stay under the 100k threshold.

Partial solution: court costs at penal rate applied to objector for errors of fact in a submission (incorrect legal citations, fake case law etc.).

Of course developers are also going to be using AI to make their applications more legally compelling, so we have that to look forward to as well.

For higher rate taxpayers, who already pay a very large proportion of income taxes, part of problem is that services are withdrawn (childcare etc) or are so bad that they need to be supplemented (healthcare).
Not opposed to paying more in principle, but services provided need to be fit for purpose.

Good policy, but so good that it has been Lib Dem policy for some time, along with a credible path to get there.

I applaud the policy statement from Greens, but it is not a “leapfrog”, it is a “we agree”

Even France - including some strongly state-affiliated companies.

European-based MNCs in my field (Semiconductors) all use English as a working language.

I got a job in France 25 years ago because team wanted a native English speaker to help win technical arguments. Nowadays, standard of English in my sector is never less than “fluent reader, acceptable speaker”

Nothing to see here, just an example of ChatGPT doing debate. If I was in the situation described, I could imagine using the “include common space in calculations” if I wanted the large room, or the “just use room size” for the smaller.

Many risks of AI, but this really isn’t one.

Gee, Officer Krupke, we're very upset;

True 10 years ago. Now main carriers are at least OK transatlantic.

US domestic different: a shitshow of everybody bringing two full-sized suitcases as “hand luggage” and surprise when no more locker space when plane 40% boarded.

Also rule 1: avoid transit in US if you don’t have Global Entry.

Wikipedia going to court over a potential classification as an adult site suggests law is too broadly framed.
Also, have had an active Reddit and Prime accounts for 18 years which should auto exempt from need to verify further. Basically, objective is fine but means are too heavy-handed.
