RIP Mike Greenwell, one of the most sought after rookie cards in 1987, and a really good outfield for his time in the bigs.

If you've never written a song about how a new genre of music cropped up in a city at roughly the same time as a baseball prospect arrived and when he was traded away the scene and the sound evolved to another level, what are you doing? #seattlesound #DannyTartabull

I picked up a few M's cards to flesh out my PC a bit going into this season. They're aging well so far.

Going through an old guitar case, I stumbled upon an old setlist from a house show in the before times.

This is the first baseball season when there is no team in Oakland for me to support. I'm moving my fandom up the coast. Go M's!

Sometimes you make a song for a podcast/charity compilation and randomly get a physical copies a year later.

I really loved the Donruss Highlights sets as a kid. Regular baseball cards had the raw stats of every player, but Highlights just focused on a single accomplishment and told you about that game or a record that got broken or something that happened that year.

I keep seeing pack breakers blowing by the glossy redemption cards in '80s packs and calling them propaganda or asking who would actually send these off. I did. I was 10 and I sent them off and 6-8 weeks later I got some really nice cards in the mail. Did it for the complete set 2 years in a row.

Some things have changed over the years. Future Stars cards were originally the hottest prospects going into their rookie year, but with the changes to rookie cards in the 2000s, they were changed to hot second year players that are not All-star Rookies.

As collectors we forget the honor that it is to even be on a baseball card. We're trying to find that lottery ticket, but every card is special to someone, especially the players on them

It got a little confusing going to Oakland/Atlanta games in the late 2000s. Between the Hudson jerseys and the St Patrick's Day Braves hats you really had to pay attention to figure out who people were rooting for.

There were so many players featured in the 1990 Score set that were "the next big thing". A few of them actually ended up being the next big thing.

This one time my band made a song about how the beginnings of grunge happened at the same time Danny Tartabull was playing in Seattle, and then I had to buy all of the main set Tartabull cards with him in a Mariners uniform.

The reason this set was made; it was Wally World and Fleer were the first to get him to print

Remember the summer of '88 when the baseball world went crazy for a rookie third baseman in goggles?

This has to be one of the most contemplative shots ever taken of Canseco. It's a really good shot, not sure why Fleer chose to use it on a drug store box set instead of their main set.

In the summer between first and second grade I went to some city park day camp thing and we did some sort of themed day. I remember going in a powder blue shirzee with an eyeliner mustache as Michael Jack Schmidt.
This card came out much later than that

From here on I'm just going to pick a random card from my collection each day and talk about whatever comes from that.
1988 Topps Send In Glossy Don Mattingly
Topps did a really good job of getting pics of Donny Baseball in '88. All of his cards were well done.
