This is a poem I wrote in one of @chrissywilliams.bsky.social's lovely Twin Peaks / Lynch-inspired poetry workshops some time ago, and after joining in the worldwide 10-minute meditation today I feel like sharing it.

"It's Not the End of the World"
It’s Not the End of the World Beneath the world’s rock shell there dwells a great toad who groans a bass note like a bow drawn long over a mountainous cello. At certain times the toad will start to sing, and then the groan lifts, soaring to the sky, the shape and colours of the great toad’s tongue, dancing with illuminated clouds. This is a beginning after the end, a beginning within the end. It doesn’t matter what is going on up here: who’s died, who’s born, who’s inside whom, the song goes on regardless, like a river flowing to the sea, it goes on. And it’s almost cruel, the way this beauty insists on soaring how that one river insists on flowing how those people insist on living how the sun insists on rising in spite of anyone’s agony.

Roast potatoes from the future Last year seems like yesterday. At this rate, by next year today will seem like tomorrow and by 2025 we'll be premembering 2027, god we'll never be able to keep the presents a surprise then. Still, it'll be handy to be able to preuse the wrapping paper and also, sure, go on, let's borrow a few roast potatoes from the future why not?
