The 15th and final poetry competition in aid of a Calday Grange Grammar School student has opened.

The Christopher Salmon Poetry Competition is named after the 15-year-old, who passed away suddenly in 2009 from a rare streptococcal infection.

A walker and two dogs were rescued after getting trapped in the fast flowing incoming tide near Little Eye.

The alarm was raised by members of the public at 12.29pm on Saturday 4 January, and the RNLI West Kirby Lifeboat was launched.
