I’ve done that too and I too agree with article. ‘Strategies’ suggests a more personally integrated approach to what works in the moment, but (I reckon) it’s a loaded, boring word - what else works to describe this?

Therapist congruence is vital in getting this right

When something emerges from our unconscious it’s a surprise but if it was merely disguised as something else or hidden under a defense not really a surprise

I’m planning exactly that…for me. In my agency room the window doesn’t open and I can’t lie on the little 2-seater couch when I’m tired

Great job with this. I so appreciate the breadth you include in your work

“Do you think maybe there’s a part of you that steps in to (abc) when (xyz)…” is language my clients like because they really get it. I like it in my own PT too. Easier to conceptualise psychodynamic concepts with parts language

I work in a women’s mental health service for women who can’t afford private care. I’m looking forward to reading it

“Any good tips for resilience to prevent the need for your services?” Honestly threads like yours help a lot. Knowledge is power with things like anxiety

Vulnerability is terrifying! Honest self-understanding and awareness can temper the fear to make it (being able to act from a place of vulnerability which is really just the courage to bare-and bear- the core self) a very rich (and deeply rewarding) place to be

Others are way better versed in this subject than me so I appreciate your comment —kind and generous of you; thank you:)

Lifecycle stages seem to impact this-I see mostly women, and late teens, early 30s, and early 60s are all big existential shifts (hormones probably influence). Nutshell - a multi-pronged solution incl top-down nervous system regulation (breathing etc) and being *really* listened to/understood

I think working to increase reflective functioning, and ability to integrate with the fear understood and managed would be a pathway to a more ‘life-enhancing’ experience of anxiety

I suspect the type of training impacts this. As a therapist I’m more at ease with the ‘dark night of the soul’ stuff than the clinicians whose training begins with a medical degree (at least here in Australia where few psychiatrists offer any kind of counselling).

Manvir Singh worked damn hard on this. Lovely dive into nuance via language

We had Cozolino (& Teyber) as required reading but even so, yes. Even in my ‘good’ masters program no underpinning (precious little about attachment) and under-emphasis on self-inquiry to understand relationships

I must have been reading since the nearly the beginning, didn’t realise—such intelligent curiosity, linking ideas + thoughtfully articulated writing
