We restore and protect the freshwater environments of the Westcountry for the benefit of people, wildlife and local economies
🎣At WRT the summer = electric fishing season! An essential element of our work to protect and restore rivers in the Westcountry. Now through the autumn we are busy processing the data.

🍂🌊Find your local stream, take a deep breath, and listen...🔊

There’s something grounding about sitting beside a river or stream in autumn, the crisp air and quiet trickle of flowing water. Spending time near water can help you reconnect with nature and boost your wellbeing.

🌧️💪 Rain? Just part of the job!
We might be soaked, but spirits are high! Today’s fieldwork took us riverside - boots in mud, raindrops drumming on hoods, and the river flowing strong beside us.

Nature doesn’t stop when it rains - and neither do we.

Tadpoles in November?

These little wrigglers were spotted on Dartmoor in a pond created for natural flood management under our RRC project. While they might overwinter, we think they’re more likely to become a winter snack for local wildlife!

🍂🌧️ Natural Flood Management in Action!

Our land advisors love seeing their projects come to life in the rain. Spotted here is the work we’re doing through the CROC (Climate Resilient Otter Catchment) project.

Murky or cloudy river?

That’s turbidity — a measure of how many tiny particles (like silt, clay, algae, or organic matter) are suspended in the water.

High turbidity isn’t just about looks — it can harm the whole river ecosystem

Some busy bees 🐝🐝

Spotted by one of our farm advisors in the heart of the Taw River catchment, this 100m stretch of bank is home to thousands of Bee-utiful mining bees!

Natures tiny underground engineers, hard at work — what a sight!
