You need to listen to this whole thing.

So it’s all calmed down…..or has it?

Who knows?

What’s for sure is that once seen these things can’t be unseen

Trust lost tends to stay lost

USA has taken long term damage this week

The question my generation has to ask ourselves is:

Is this a completely new USA or has the mask just slipped, or maybe have they decided to abandon the mask altogether?

Will NATO come to America’s rescue?

More than 500 British soldiers died supporting USA’s wars of vengeance in the Middle East

Everything he says tells us America is completely untrustworthy

On a happier note Champions League is back this evening….

From a town of 55000 in the arctic circle to Real Madrid’s 85000 seater stadium - there’s nothing like it!!
( unless Trump has his eye on Bodo-Glimt too….)

Just realised that this is all about 250 years of the USA!!!

The empire is demanding a territorial tribute to mark its anniversary

There must be a question now whether the continued US military presence in Greenland is in any way appropriate or desirable

More considered response
My generation grew up believing USA for all its faults, was at heart well meaning
That’s gone&won’t come back
Even if 5 Obamas were elected question remains “what if they choose another Trump?”
USA only understands strength
Boycott anything US & tax the hell out of US Tech!

Seems to me that events in Venezuela fit exactly with Trump’s “spheres of influence” philosophy - that “strong”nations can do as they wish in “their” region
You’d assume Ukraine, the Baltics and Taiwan are now seen as fair game
Europe had better get its rearmament program into the highest gear…….

Ali earlier “I really like that shirt on you”

“Black works so well with silver hair”

Here’s the thing about getting a bit older (not far off seventy as it happens) you can head off to your annual hearing review at Boots, as I did this morning, and forget to take your hearing aids with you….

British media obsession with the US baffles me
Top story on BBC News website is the Reiners
Yes it’s a gruesome tragedy, son accused of stabbing parents to death
But unfortunately things like this happen regularly somewhere in the world
As far as I can tell the family had zero connection to UK…..

Almost forgotten this;sprinted a bit when young
Coached to stay low from blocks everything pumping then get upright, knees high as possible
Nothing seems to happen;you’re going faster but doesn’t feel like it
Until suddenly its like you’re turbo charged accelerating without effort….incredible feeling

Elvis Costello’s “Radio, radio” just came on. Great song and a very angry one
Got me thinking….in the 70s music was a rallying call for the young against the NF, social & economic breakdown etc etc….if there was ever a time for that again it’s now…..so where is it?

Christmas grandchildren on the beach at sunset
December 13, 2025 at 6:16 PM
Early Christmas weekend with S Coast grandkids then 2 days with London ones. Heading off home in a minute. 8yo wanted to kiss/cuddle goodbye at home before school “not in front of my whole class!!”. When we got to school we walked in with her arms around my waist…. that’s ok apparently 🤷🏽
December 9, 2025 at 9:45 AM
We’re off for an early Christmas tomorrow morning. South coast kids & grandkids are going to Canada for the real one so we’re opening presents with them on Sunday then out for a pub Christmas dinner

Misty West Country morning

Not so long ago these valleys were the heart of a coalfield - not much sign of that now……

Changed cars as old one let us down on M25 taking 3yo to ours for half term.Mechanic said underlying car fine but,at 130k miles, components at end of life&likely to get more failures
3 yo thought was great adventure though- look at his face in AA lorry relaying us home!
Can we do this again pleeeease
November 21, 2025 at 10:17 PM
Handed over old car, drove away new one earlier;both VW Golfs, we’re grandparents so it’s almost compulsory
Old one was a 2011&had no more than half dozen manual switches/dials.New one has a control panel bigger than an ipad & any number of menus
Taken most of afternoon to get it half way set up…..

Accidentally opened the Bsky “discover” feed

I’m assuming these are things this site thinks I might be interested in……….there’s a lot (and I mean A LOT) of posts on there in German, which is fine I only opened it by accident & probably won’t ever again

My question is why?

Another stage has passed I guess
Youngest grandkid happily settled in pre school 5 days/week
So those term time trips to park, playground, soft play when it’s quiet, no queues etc pretty much finished
Not sad about it;want to celebrate their development
Just pleased we had that time with them all
