1996 reissue of utterly bonkers 1969 album An Electric Storm by White Noise. Led by future library music master David Vorhaus, the project at this point included the legendary Delia Derbyshire and Brian Hodgson from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. A tape manipulation masterpiece. #CDFriday

New arrivals for #CDFriday:
ADULT.: Detroit House Guests. Remarkable collaborative album from the legacy electropunks in a largely more atmospheric style.
Forest Swords: Bolted. UK postwhatever. Slow motion beats, huge blown synths, murky moods for ages.
Two CDs, both eco cardboard sleeves. ADULT. Detroit House Guests depicts a figure under a blue and white quilt sitting atop a vaguely MCM bed. There is a waft of smoke across the picture plane from right to left. Forest Swords: Bolted depicts a rough hewn figural sculpture, bald headed but of indeterminate gender. The figure is sculpted from the stomach up, with arms resting on the plinth below. The sculpture is enclosed in a similarly rough hewn rectangular cage.

Brian Eno’s 2020 soundtrack for Rams, Gary Hustwit’s doc on Dieter Rams.
One of the final transmissions from beloved Broadcast, 2024’s Spell Blanket.
Porter Ricks’ all killer 2017 album Anguilla Electrica.
CDs as listed in post. The Rams soundtrack is a close up straight ahead portrait of Dieter Rams. The Broadcast CD features a heavily distressed monochrome image of singer Trish Keenan in profile. The Porter Ricks CD has uneven vertical strips of fuzzy edged colors, left to right in blue and green, with yellow, rose, and a tiny bit of orange on the far right side.

A singular and magical group, this CD collects the discography of Young Marble Giants. I bought this unheard via mail order in 2002(?) after reading an article in the NYT during the “post punk revival.” It certainly sounded nothing like Delta 5 or Liquid Liquid. Beautiful and unexpected. #CDfriday
