It is weird though and I have a feeling the reasoning behind it is some version of not wanting to slow drivers down too much on Moreland

They're removing the traffic light at Arkwright and there will be a concrete divider on Moreland so vehicles won't be able to make left turns. So this would actually be further back from the traffic light at Memorial.

I think it's because of the left turn lane, they probably want it to be a certain number of feet before the Memorial drive intersection so people would have to cross an additional lane and without the curb protection in the center

To be clear I'm fine with them restricting vehicle turns, I just didn't know they were pushing the crosswalk so far back and making people walking and biking do a weird U thing instead of being able to go straight across.

Perhaps there's a reason for it I don't understand but 🤷🏼‍♂️

The really odd thing that stands out here to me is that you can walk 40 minutes anywhere in this city and it be considered "mostly flat"

Yeah I'm not going to waste any more time. I just wanted to know if there were any facts behind it or if it's just total BS

Seems like it's just total BS 😂

I wrote them a (polite) message on their contact us page requesting that they add sources or else consider taking down the website. Eager to hear their response!

Used my real name and email I ain't afraid

I think I found the article for the 65% higher odds of housing retention is even called out in the study as having other plausible explanations

Are urbanism and walkability popular in Buckhead? Cause I would have never guessed that was the case...

Seems like if you're after urbanism and can afford to live in Buckhead you could just live where there's better urbanism (e.g. Midtown)
