It would probably be less annoying if I COULD just rematch major characters. ...ngl I'd probably just spend a bunch of time at the Rust Syndicate rematching Corbeau and Philippe, I enjoy their battles

And you can't even rematch any of the other characters unless they randomly turn up in prize matches, so even tho there are characters I enjoy battling, I can't fight them again unless I get lucky. After fighting enough randos for a ticket.

Online ranked battles don't count either.

The "real time" battle system just not letting you do anything that certain points, or getting "caught unawares" by someone you're walking directly toward while targeting their pokemon, being forced to do it SO. MANY. FUCKING. TIMES. And it's not even fun!

If you want to collect all the mega stones, you have to fight in the online battles, for which you need to pay for the Nintendo Online services, and they're also annoying as hell.
