Interessant auch, dass die HT clean energy als Mitgründer den Gründer des Hosting-Anbieter Hetzner hat. Mit der neuen Firma wollen er die Datencenter künftig CO2-neutral betreiben.

Agree.
Bulding anything other than prototypes is a waste of money, money that should be invested into carbon reduction.
It makes no sense to burn coal for power and then use it to suck out some CO2 with it.

At this point, CCS/DAC is a big distraction. The mantra "oh, we'll soon have the super technology to undo today's polution" is dangerous.
Still, it should get the funding and research it'll need. Because non-fossil-fuel based emissions will need it.

A plant has to undergo a major renovation every 10 years, where the tech is brought up to date. This was 3 yrs overdue.
There were also stories about cracks, idk how serious they were.
Ultimately, the operators (except for one which silently offered it) did not want to keep them running.

There was no operator willing to extend their lifetime (except for Isar 2, but they were notably quiet about this).
The only way would have been if the state bought the plants and spend a few years repairing them and train new personal.

Maybe partially and temporary, but renewable additions will get coal down to <10% in the next years.

Probably not entirely, as coal runs more on demand with a way higher capacity. Nuclear just racks up because it ran 24/7/265.

2022 was an outlier, due to the war and problems with French nuclear. We have never exported that much coal power since the market reforms.

Sollte es da nicht mal eine Regeländerung geben, dass man bei Personen im Gleis auf Sicht weiterfahren kann?
Normalerweise sind die ja eh über alle Berge, bis die BPol eintrifft...

Anscheinend brennen die tatsächlich auch häufiger als reine Verbrenner.

Als Feuerwehrler sind solche Personen mein absoluter Albtraum.
Ich habe schon öfters eine Straße (teil-)sperren müssen. Bis jetzt nur einmal einen gehabt, der meinte um die Absperrung zu fahren (hat aber nach Protest meinerseits dann doch gedreht).

There would still be a lot more coal power in the mix as it is the cleapest non-renewable source (assuming no CO2 tax), as well as nuclear (not because of additions, but a slower phase-out & higher CF) and a little gas. Essentially little change to the fuel mixes of the 2000s.

Not quite sure of this PV boom would have happened.
PV got cheap because of a great learning factor that keeps strong. Without subventions, we might not have gotten the wheel rolling. As of now, a cancelation of subventions would not change a lot imho.
