Birder. Recovered stage manager. Love a good story.
Happy Bluesky Birthday! Here's a fancy Peacock to add to the celebration.

A similar sighting in Seattle. What a great discovery for science. I wonder what the species range is for pro-democracy dinos?

#Seattle #NoKings march is still streaming into Seattle Center. Lots of smiles, dogs, little kids, people passing out water and masks. Creativity and care everywhere.

My father died 14 years ago today. He lived a quiet but honorable life, kind and generous. During WW2, he did his part against the Nazis by growing food for his community. He had one eye and regretted not being allowed to enlist.
Today he is on my shoulder, against fascism and dictators.

Note to self: Normalize sharing fuzzy photos of #birds because they are the only kind I take through binoculars. #BirdJoy #OwlsAreAwesome

Photos from Magnuson Park wetlands yesterday. Birds calling, setting up nesting sites, a frog chorus, a rich soundscape.

This soundscape may be degraded by a new pickleball court right next to it. #birds

How about no?

This is reason 1,279 why I love Seattle. It's February 28. Absolutely heinous things happened today. And people will still come out in 52 degree weather to sit on a blanket and watch the sunset.
We have to have joy to fight for.

Meet A/6, an adult male Cooper's Hawk who has nested for several years in a park close to me in Seattle. This sighting in my yard is the 20th report since he was banded as an adult in August 2020. Hats off to the Urban Raptor Conservancy that does the banding and provides the info.
