Yep. Husband was dying of liver disease but chose not to leave job until he had to because he wouldn't be able to go on any kind of benefit with me working. We were so thankful that his workplace was really good and he died while still employed.

The funniest thing was that my mum sat and laughed and then told me to ignore him because he doesn't know what he's talking about.

His weird response was "how do they know?" I said "How do they know what?" Anyway, long story short, he insisted that it wasn't the government laying off government workers. I grew up the daughter of two public servants. My dad was laid off in the 90s. It was the weirdest thing ever.
