Isaiah Berlin talked about the inevitable tragedy of life - you can have two things that are opposed, but both right. The tragedy of life comes from trying to compromise between them and hurting someone. The Trump administration needs to think of this. Be more like the fox rather than the hedgehog.

I’ve worked in federal contracting since the 1980s. I’ve seen efforts to reduce federal spending come and go and the only people that made a difference with the Clinton administration not because they hated government but because they wanted government to work better.

Elon Musk thinks technology will make the government cheaper. He doesn’t understand that it costs a shit ton of money to introduce new technology into the federal government and the only people that will make money are federal, contracting firms and beltway bandits.

Giving federal employees the chance to quit will cause those that can get jobs to quit. Those who stay either need to stay to retain health insurance, others will be the worst who can’t move on. The result will be those who are the worst will stay & those who don’t want to stay will be demoralized.
