Public education communicator by day, campaign hack after dark. Other hats as required.
Still not sure if he’s fully picking up on the conspiracy theory or just venting about what he sees as some quirky idea of accessibility. I guess it depends on how much red meat he's had with Eric Bouchard.

Thanks for following. I know many neighbours who couldn’t make it out tonight but were curious about it.

One more.

A man comes in late after having beers and steaks with UCP MLA Eric Bouchard. He complains about the United Nations and 15-minute cities.

Here’s some of what Councillor McLean has to say in response.

(And, I’m out.)

Of course, Councillor McLean likes to vote no on things. The City’s voting record database has him in third place on Team No — behind only Couns. Chabot and Chu.

He borrows from former mayor Dave Bronconnier in saying he can build consensus and only needs “to count to eight” (a majority of votes on 15-member council.) The Councillor touts success in ending fee for take-out bags, reinstating the Canada Day fireworks.

During question period, Councillor McLean is asked about the City’s work-from-home policy. He says it would be inappropriate for City workers to log in to remote meetings from a ski hill.

Here’s what on Councillor McLean’s chopping block.

Councillor McLean shouts out Pierre Pollievre’s support for transit-orientated development but says he wants the private sector to take it on. Patrick Pollievre is here. He’s the Communications and Community Liaison for Ward 13.

Councillor McLean digs at bike lanes, climate emergency, promotes fare gates at CTrain stations. These are the greatest hits.

If you live in a $700,000 home, you’d pay $8.37 more in civic taxes each month. That’s roughly the cost of a Cajun Ranch McWrap at McDonald’s. Add on $5.09 more in waste & recycling and water utilities fees, and it’s the cost of a combo.

So far, from what I read, the City has floated a 3.6 per cent tax hike — broken down into a 5.5 per cent bump for residential and 1.4 per cent for commercial properties. Councillor McLean’s figures are a bit different but in the same ballpark.

Reminder: Councillor McLean once said he didn’t want to pay to build fire stations.

“We don’t have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem,” Councillor McLean says. He takes issue with lower bump for fire and emergency services.

Councillor McLean starts out by saying tax increases are the No. 1 issue in the ward, according to polling.

The website says this is a 554-seat theatre. There are about 40 people spread out here. I’m in my mid-30s, which puts me on the front end of the bell curve.

Fun fact: Former MLA Dave Rodney — of Mt. Everest fame — once called this school “one of the invaluable gems” of the riding. Funner fact: It is the alma mater of Jessalyn Wanlim of Workin’ Moms fame.
