Conservatives have argued my whole damn life that people were too irreparably broken to be trusted with their own freedom, except to buy guns. Isn’t that what Strauss was all about? Civic virtue hasn’t sounded conservative for decades.

I don’t know if this means anything, but I feel like a lot of the “clash of civilizations” narrative that united the paleoconservatives with neoconservatives during W’s two terms got a lot of people used to this kind of rhetoric.

So the two players the Hawks brought in specifically to mentor/support Bedard: one had effort issues and is leaving for a third round pick, the other was an alcoholic in personal crisis who was released for conduct unbecoming. I can see why the kid had a big slump this year.

Am I missing something? From the other side, I’m not sure how much another GM should want to trade for Hall given the year he has had.
