We prepared to see a neo-pagan Sussex gem, but were disappointed - It appeared to be a commissioned bit of modern vanity. We could be wrong, but the multiple signs that we were being recorded made it feel otherwise. A statement piece, but not sure what it was trying to say.

Imagination is our guide when picturing historical Sussex witches. As a county, there were just 15 people indicted for witchcraft between 1509 and 1690, with only one of these having been executed for their 'crime'.

Gallows superstitions were rife in England when hanging was the primary method of execution. A healthcare industry sprang up, finding cures in the gibbet wood or the deceased's hand.

Although no cure, the most well-known of these is the Hand of Glory, granting it's bearer invisibilty. #weirdweald

We're counting down the days, snacks have been planned. We saw Danny while we were eating dinner out in Southampton pre-show and wanted to invite him to join us, but imagined he had his hands full 😅 We'd love to chat more to Fred and his cousin from s4, ep5!
ONLY TWO SLEEPS until Uncanny TV Season Two on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer and I have another question for you #UncannyCommunity

If you had an #Uncanny dinner party, who would your top 3 guests be? Would it be one of our experts? A witness? Or maybe even one of our ghosts?

Two days left⏰

This week's episode of Classic #Folk includes 'A Song Story' by former EFDSS president #ShirleyCollins and sister Dolly, it's a real classic of English folk song, depicting the changes in rural life caused by WW1. It's very rarely played on radio because it's nearly 30 mins!

While we wait for Storm Éowyn to touch down in Sussex, our thoughts drift towards the pre-storm splendour of Chanctonbury Ring - pictured here long before 1987. Admittedly, we are afforded a lot of protection by the South Downs where we are, so maybe this rain is all that will happen?

Wæs hæl! Drinc hæl! Slumbering spirits awaken in Tarring during the annual wassail. Sompting Village Morris have held a revival of this pre-Christian tradition now for over 25 years.
