"Do what you love for a living and you'll extinguish all joy from your life."
And velvet underground were a mid to late 60s band that had a profound influence on punk and indie rock. Hung out with Andy Warhol, kinda origin of "art rock".

Focuses on game as product of consumption, rather than of cultural impact.
And in terms of Nintendo Bump, the way fan culture functions as outgrowth of marketing campaigns tying brand identity to personal identity. I don't know what I'm getting at necessarily.

Video games are unusual among cultural objects in that they began as consumer goods not worthy of "serious" consideration. I guess film & television had a similar trajectory but I think there was a category of "prestige film" or whatever. So the default in criticism (like discussing what games mean)

So this isn't specifically about Earth Bound. But could Earth Bound be something like the Velvet Underground, a band no one cares about at the time, but everyone who did went out and made an important band?

Really enjoying this episode. But Chris something you said got me thinking about the way we think about videogames broadly, and how more than other form of expression, market dominance dominates the conversation. I've never played Earth Bound, so I don't have a strong opinion on how good it is.

You hack my email, or is my medium not as discreet as they told me they were? I will say the ghost microwave is better than when Hal Linden kept breaking into my cellar.

I listened to a retelling of the Water Margin last year and thought it would make excellent d&d adventures.

I've got it and want to put some time into it. Seems awesome. But I need to not have another big game going when I dive in

Saw that in the theater 20 years ago or whatever. At first I was like, we should get out of here and do some drugs! By the end I was like I'm never doing drugs again!
You ever read Selby's novels? Last exit to Brooklyn is awesome (movie adaptation of that is whatever)

There's some nuons on eBay and some games too. Pick some up as business expenses. Do a whole series that kicked off with a magazine read along!
