I like black cats and I cannot lie!
Agreed in both counts! I want ASTS to have multiple launch providers at their disposal. While Blue Origin would be their best bet, I also hold some RKLB shares. So I’d also love to see ASTS and RKLB work together one day!

That could change soon. Rocket Lab (RKLB) is supposed to launch Neutron in the coming months.

I have a direct ancestor who died in this war, resulting in poverty for the family for the next three generations. So this wasn’t an abstract issue for my family.

Yes. While historians generally don’t like counter factuals, it is easy to imagine slavery becoming economically unviable and abolition occurring peacefully as it did in Brazil. But it didn’t. And Taney pouring gasoline in the debate over slavery helped push the nation towards civil war.
September 22, 2025 at 9:08 PM
This is a very bad take. The Civil War was a close run conflict, at least in the early years. Over 600,000 Americans died in that war, more than any other in American History. Yes, the end of slavery was fantastic. But the cost was unnecessary and appalling. Taney was hands down the worst CJ.

Concentration of wealth and power is also a threat to the positive aspects of capitalism, namely the innovation (technology, better customer service, more choices, etc.) and lower prices that come with a truly competitive market.

Colbert wasn’t a martyr. He was just a boring talking head. His show was hemorrhaging viewers and advertising revenue. It’s remarkable that he wasn’t cancelled earlier.

It is true that the MAGA right is predictable throwing a hissy fit over Kimmel and others like him. But outside of the left, a lot of people see left-leaning comedians such as Kimmel as sanctimonious bores. Kirk isn’t the sainted hero the right makes him out to be. But neither is Kimmel.
September 18, 2025 at 2:24 PM
I have never found Kimmel funny. The same goes for all the other late night comedians since Jay Leno (who was funny) retired. Apparently, the public shares my view since these shows aren’t doing well. It wouldn’t surprise me if ABC already had plans to cancel Kimmel to save money.

He has my vote!

No. Free speech is absolute. But harassment of Jewish students isn’t free speech anymore that threatening someone with bodily harm is free speech. You may find Charlie Kirk’s speech odious, but unless he harassed people line those protesters did to Jewish students, you don’t have a point.

I don’t care about Netanyahu. But Israel has a right to fight Hamas until they are no longer operational as a threat.
September 17, 2025 at 9:38 PM
The first amendment is not up for negotiation.
September 17, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Maybe Hamas should surrender and release the hostages. They are 💯 to blame for the bloodshed. They started this war with a barbaric terrorist attack and have kept it going.
September 17, 2025 at 7:12 PM
I also have zero tolerance for Islamic extremism and groups such as Hamas, which I see as one of the most despicable and hateful groups on the planet. Maybe it’s not worth a discussion. I have very strong views on these issues.
September 17, 2025 at 6:14 PM
I strongly disagree with you on this. Many of the pro-Palestinian protestors on elite campuses are vile anti-Semites. They are little different from the KKK or neo-Nazis and should be treated as such. A lot more arrests, expulsions, and deportations should have occurred than did.
September 17, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Maybe Matthew Walters is correct that SCOTUS is the real legislature now that the Congress is essentially a body of do nothings.
September 17, 2025 at 3:16 PM
The difference is that universities allowed the civil rights (Title VI) of Jewish students to be violated, which has opened them up to both civil lawsuits and federal intervention. Regardless of what you think about Kirk, no laws were broken by having him speak or debate on a campus.
September 17, 2025 at 3:09 PM
The fact that student loan forgiveness is a big deal in the first place is the real problem. It is a break of support between the generations: Jugenhoffnungvernichtung!

Britain still hasn’t had a full reckoning for the decades long Pakistani rape gang scandal, including for government officials such as police officers, social workers, and politicians who looked the other way. Starmer himself dragged his feet on a national inquiry. So glass houses and all.
September 11, 2025 at 3:24 PM
No. But the current president who ordered flags to be lowered is a celebrity himself and is prone to performative nonsense along with ignoring norms, among many other things.
September 11, 2025 at 3:00 AM
Not really. We live in a celebrity culture. So a lot more people know who a media personality or influencer is than do members of a state legislature. Fame is the issue here.
September 11, 2025 at 2:29 AM
There are absolutely some terrible people on the left too. Block and ignore. No time for those folks either.
September 10, 2025 at 9:15 PM
I agree. Asylum should be a real thing, but it should never be automatic and certainly not based on economic considerations. Also, it is interesting that so many asylum seekers in Europe are Muslims because many Muslim nations, especially the wealthy ones, take in few asylum seekers.
