There were 9 deer on the left side, and a lone deer on the right. I stopped, not wanted to disturb them since they were so close. The one on the right saw me and made eye contact. It cautiously crossed the path in front of me, and circled back around me, while continuously watching me #WitchSky

I asked aloud if that's what I was supposed to see. I waited a minute and then figured it was time to go, and thanked the forest for it's time. About halfway to the parking lot, I'm suddenly stopped by deer. Deer are common in forest preserves but I don't remember seeing so many so close ##WitchSky

Immediately I saw a weird orange ball floating in the river coming around the bend toward me. Then I realized it was a floating pumpkin. As it got closer it looked like a pumpkin shaped nerf ball. I don't really know what it was, but I watched it for a bit until it passed me.

I wasn't sure what kind of bird it was, maybe a turkey vulture, and I just stood there staring at it, trying to get a clear pic so I can ID it. I watched for another 5 or so minutes when it seemed to be leading me towards a spot with fewer trees so I can get a better look

And on one of the tree roots was a large mussel shell. I figured that meant it was a good spot. So I set up my offering and just observed the river and the many birds for a while. After about 10 minutes I was about to leave when a large black bird appeared lazily circling above me. #Witchsky

The best cooking advice I got was to just make sure your ingredients are colorful and the rest will probably take care of itself. And if it's still not great, at least you still get the satisfaction of making a rainbow in the process.

Since winter is ending, I decided to make one of my favorite wintery recipes, an herby potato leek soup. I used garlic, rosemary, thyme, sage, and marjoram, for cleansing, protection, and discovery in the spring. Plus two drops of lemon for clarity and growth. #WitchSky

I made my first attempt at meditating in nature. It's drizzly and gray so I found a dryish spot under a large tree next to the river. I was looking for guidance and calm and, if it be their will, for a spirit guide to find me and show me a path.... #WitchSky
