Now Reading:
Chevengur by Andrey Platonov (tr. Elizabeth & Robert Chandler)
Brother Brontë by Fernando A. Flores
A brief #FathersDay break brought me close to the half-way point of #AndreyPlatonov ‘s epic ode of faith in a deeply flawed humanity: #Chevengur.

“DEMONS OF EMINENCE” contains multitudes: A deluge of descriptions so effusive they’ll leave you gagging for more; Heaps of coal-black humor copious enough to singe the souls of even the iciest queens; Every diva’s dream: Instant classic status.

New piece inspired mainly by the poetry of Severo Sarduy with the hills, weeds, and wildflowers of northern Kentucky playing roles as minor muses. 🌱

This piece was inspired by a fantastic poetry collection of the same name by Mette Moestrup, translated by Katrine Øgaard Jensen. Each section composed in a unique style, written in tribute to a different classical Greek Muse, showers the reader with aesthetic abundance

The original concept for this piece came to me in a dream, believe it or not, after an evening reading Surface Studies by Mike Corrao. It’s an engaging collection of criticism focused on texts that draw you in like a fleshy, membranous labyrinth.

Sense Violence by Helena Boberg (tr. @johannesg.bsky.social) & The Bloody Lady by Claire Rousay
The Poetry: An intense, erotic nightmare crouching at the cornerstones of consciousness.
The Music: Intimate, menacing tones fated never to receive a release.

Decided to try working with oil pastels again this year. This piece is named for the opening track on Milan W’s “Leave Another Day”, which is one of my favorite albums from this year. Certainly set the mood every time I sat down to work. 🖤
What music has been inspiring you lately?
