Only 2 of the 3 new Rieslings from Dr. Loosen, which are conquering the world (via Place de Bordeaux) under the name Bergweiler-Prüm Erben. I am fascinated by these complex wines, which have been aged in foudre for 2 years. 2019 is the 2nd vintage to be released after last year's 2018 premiere.

Does what belongs together grow together here? It could hardly have been better invented, but here Franz #Hirtzberger, Lucas Pichler (#FXPichler) and Roland Velich (#Moric) are actually sharing the latter's 2011 St Georgener #GrünerVeltliner from #Burgenland. What wine can do, no conversation can.

Alkoholfreien Wein gibt es nicht. Wein kommt immer mit Alkohol auf die Welt, der Rest ist Getränketechnologie. Das Resultat: entseelt, mit Zucker + Mist versehen, aber zu wenig Alkohol, um es sich schön trinken zu können.

Alkoholfreien Wein gibt es nicht. Wein kommt immer mit Alkohol auf die Welt, der Rest ist Getränketechnologie. Das Resultat: entseelt, mit Zucker + Mist versehen, aber zu wenig Alkohol, um es sich schön trinken zu können.

During lunch Manfred Prüm from #JohJosPrüm served me blind the 2020 #WehlenerSonnenuhr #Auslese that I commented yrs ago for #RobertParker, detecting “catholic” and “protestant” features. After I commented the 2020 again, Manfred got the printed review out of his pocket & asked me to read it loud. 😅

Küchenrollen und Wein: Das Verhältnis der Deutschen zum Wein ist ein eher pragmatisches als kulinarisches. Wo doch jeder weiß, das gleich neben den Küchenrollen das Klopapier liegt. Für was der gemeine Deutsche wohl mehr Geld ausgibt, traue ich mich gar nicht zu fragen.

Küchenrollen und Wein: Das Verhältnis der Deutschen zum Wein ist ein eher pragmatisches als kulinarisches. Wo doch jeder weiß, das gleich neben den Küchenrollen das Klopapier liegt. Für was der gemeine Deutsche wohl mehr Geld ausgibt, traue ich mich gar nicht zu fragen.

Ernst Triebaumer #Blaufränkisch Ried Mariental, a selection of 1999-2022. 2021 is probably one of the greatest in 40 years. No other BF is like this: deep, spicy, concentrated and ready to age, if you are.

Not just the labels, the low-sulphured #WINES are beautiful from the #Zellenberg domain #Hunter|McKirdy in #Alsace that just released the inaugural 2023 vintage from old, #biodynamic farmed vineyards that Jolena Hunter and Paul McKirdy took over from the one and only, sadly retired #MarcTempé.

Anne Krebiehl MW is now responsible for the "wine selection and purchasing strategy" of Qatar Airways which claims to sell 1.4 million bts of red wine and 4 mio glasses of champagne every year. As this is a freelance consultancy role, AK will continue to work as a journalist, she reports on request.
