My first ever contact with Shostakovich was his first violin concerto recorded by Sitkovetsky and released by Virgin. My dad played the 2nd movement for me and the first thought was, *this* is really weird. Then somehow, I fell in love with it.
I'm so sad I can't remember how it happened.
