I find it slightly odd that such a huge win for Ukraine is being portrayed as another EU mess. Yes, it isnt what some EU states were pressing for, but still a win for Ukraine, and a huge success the EU could agree 90 billion.
December 21, 2025 at 11:01 PM
The EU holds approx. 185 billion of Russian assets, but 90 is all the EU ever offered so there would never have been more given to Ukraine. I agree it's a shame they wouldn't seize assets now, and will try to use it later, but they still agreed Ukraine could get the 90 billion - I'd say thats a win

Tomorrow by 1 or 2 seconds, sorry. I'm also struggling to get it right
December 20, 2025 at 12:01 PM
Its tomorrow (21 December) in London - shorter by 5 seconds. Solar noon has already started getting later so evenings have been getting lighter for the last few days, but mornings darker for the next few days

It's always nice words, but Ukraine needs Taurus and other specialist equipment. More action please

Especially when considering forward planning. I'm all for bashing government when they deserve it, but expecting them to invent an effective vaccine, pump it out months in advance is a load of s*?t. Blame them for something real. It's awful, really. Sometimes you have to react as best you can
December 15, 2025 at 2:07 AM
Almost like no-one has read the news that this is a newly mutated strain that the the vaccine has limited effectiveness. The situation is awful, but stop blaming government when the scientists (with their best efforts) couldn't stop this - expecting more under performing vaccine doesn't help

Guyana have confirmed it was falsely flying their flag, so would not be unusual or illegal for it to be seized. Clearly carefully planned to turn up the heat, but also to be within international norms. BBC News - how tanker seized by US hid true location

From Iran to China to Venezuela - how seized tanker hid location
A seized tanker accused of smuggling sanctioned oil has long hidden its true location. BBC Verify examines how.

BBC Verify ... shows it was sailing under the flag of Guyana when its position was last updated two days ago. A statement from Guyana's Maritime Administration Department...said that the Skipper was "falsely flying the Guyana Flag as it is not registered in Guyana."
December 11, 2025 at 9:22 AM
Do we know for certain it is an illegal seizure? BBC are reporting it was falsely flying the flag of Guyana. I've no expertise in maritime law, but I'd always thought flying a false flag made it perfectly legal to detain a ship. BBC News - Guyana false flag

The massive EU players were there. Other larger ones are on point. The blockers are the usual e.g. Slovakia, Hungary who want cheap gas. The major one is Germany that thank goodness is now more confident than it was a when Russia invaded.

Happily end it for now. Ze would be delusional to take Putin for his word, or Trump for a security guarantee. Ze stuck between maximising pain on Russia now and risking more lost territory, or pretending there can be peace and lose it all in a few years time when Putin rearms and comes for round 2.

I wonder if China climbing above the US is in some part importers realising they need to manage exposure to a now unpredictable US. It must be a nightmare to manage supply chains right now, and for other counties to build factories, some making specialist components, to import from can take years.

It feels strangely detached. I drove my daughters to school every day past the Epping hotel for 3 years ending in July 2024-me nor any parents had any issues. Where I live now a white British stalker and a white British paedophile lived closer by and arrested. No protests.

I think we're agreeing on the same point which I totally agree AI will continue to help. Nothing we're going settle here-I wonder if the point from the author is that if porn is what they're after, maybe it's more hype than the true share price of AI?! Who knows
October 17, 2025 at 2:00 AM
If AI is such a game changer, why are they resorting to porn? Clearly the Internet has been a game changer, and has also grown partially on porn, so I'm lead to believe. However, if AI is such a massive deal, did it need porn, or is this evidence of white elephant or maybe the same effluent of dross

Russia has violated airspace multiple times over the last 12 months, and always a threat of escalation to any help to Ukraine for every Russian escalation. Not certain anyone could say if we didn't do that they wouldn't do this-rather Putin always looking for weaknesses/probing to distract the West
October 12, 2025 at 9:39 PM
Trump said "I've sort of made a decision." That's is no decision at all, commitment or anything else. Also quite different from the quote - is there something else outside the video above that actually says what we've just been told he says, because he isn't saying it in this clip!

Clement Attlee also sold the Soviets the Rolls Royce Nene engine in 1946, which the Soviets then copied and put into the Mig 15. This allowed the Soviets to catch up on jet technology and eventually pummel allied aircraft in Korea with an arguably superior jet at the time. Completely stupid.

It would also only be exemplar if you reintroduce those rights as soon as possible, and you don't suspend rights or institutions you don't need to...the good thing about Ukraine is at least they seem to know when things go too far (e.g. the corruption body that was reintroduced).
October 1, 2025 at 6:20 AM
Depends how you frame it. It is exemplar if you are willing to suspend some rights for a short period in order to fight to the death so those rights aren't exterminated. Many democracies wouldn't go this far. Of course, we see a similar narrative in other democracies where democracy isnt at stake
