Governor Hochul: 'The cost of living is still too damn high, and New Yorkers deserve a break.' This proposal is part of a broader affordability agenda to help residents cope with rising prices.

If approved by the Legislature, payments could start as early as Fall 2025. The plan will be part of the Governor's upcoming State of the State address on January 14.

The 'Inflation Refund' aims to provide up to $500 to eligible New Yorkers, helping offset the rising cost of living. The $3 billion program would use surplus sales tax revenues generated by inflation.
