I am very pleased with this pretty pale yellow crocus.

First friendly robin of the new year in the garden. It is always such a pleasure to have these little fellows around. I love how confident they become, hanging out close by when I am digging, knowing that there will be tasty creatures turned loose from the soil.

It’s opening day in the garden! The purple crocus always the first to bloom. What a good moment it is, witnessing this harbinger of the ephemeral.

So very lovely to have some spring inside during this icy white season.

I am finally painting the frames of these vintage pieces. So far I’ve cleaned, taped off, and have one coat of gesso on one frame. The frames were just too dark and gaudy for my collection and walls. Out of over 100 vintage framed pieces, I’ve only changed the frame one other time.

It is a special kind of missing someone, when you can no longer share the sky.

Subaru doing Subaru things… taking home a fully intact frozen rabbit from the side of the road to bury at the farm so I can retrieve the skeleton later.

In 2024 I had 275 days of perennial flowers blooming in my garden, from crocuses on March 3, to perennial phlox on December 2. That’s over 39 weeks, or 9 months.
Do you document your garden’s annual bloom time?

I had to force some spring early… I simply could not wait through all the cold and snow. A mix of hyacinths that will bloom in a few weeks.
