Yeah this year has been the "breakthrough" year for me on that front - kid just getting old enough to feel like things are opening back up again for my wife and I as individuals outside of being parents only. Gotta say it's very nice. Hoping for the same for you...

Will check out musicbee!

Actually ordered a copy of this just the other week - realising it was still in stock with original label, something I'm guilty of overlooking.

Arrived rapidly and with a lovely wee note from the label head; suffice to say the music is fantastic.

Wow! Good on you for keeping up so well.

Do you stream a lot of stuff?

I'm at the other end of the spectrum, I'm afraid - but I have made it to more gigs this year, which I'm chuffed about (and have tended to pick up a record from the merch table!)

I was at the Glasgow gig on Sat 25th and no sign of tapers there (if that would have sufficed...)

Christmas present sorted, methinks!

I was remembering your letterbox post & thinking about this yesterday.

Thought was: bsky is nowhere near as good as twitter was when twitter was good, but it's nowhere near as bad (addictive/triggering) as twitter was when it was *good* either.

It's helping me wean off social media [complimentary]

Nice! Wasn't aware of this one, but I do have Piccolo, seemingly recorded a few months earlier.

Very much on-topic Isao Suzuki recorded an album where he played piccolo bass and the bass itself was played by... Ron Carter!

Recorded the summer after Peg Leg it seems.

Yeah, cool - would recommend giving Suzuki a listen then - some good stuff there, IMO

I don't know if he was ever recorded solo, but do you enjoy the music of Isao Suzuki?

He foregrounds the bass (or cello) in quite an exceptional way.

Ron Carter's "Piccolo" is another cool one, while I'm at it.

Ah, bummer - really enjoy his playing on some great David Murray albums

Yeah, it's been on my wantlist for a minute!

Starting to think they'll all turn up, sooner or later :)

Enjoy your stereo - I'm sure it'll never have sounded better!

I've only got two things by them: The Necks Box (8 albums - Christmas present from a few years back) and now these 4 live discs.
I guess this new 3-disc album is for me!

Everything is so good, IMO.
But yeah it's nice hearing them acoustic and unedited - regret not having seen them live yet.

I can tell that's good just from the photo!
November 4, 2025 at 4:43 PM
Oh, sweet - this is supposed to be very good
November 4, 2025 at 4:39 PM
Thanks!
Actually remember seeing this before - very cool

Have heard good things about this!

Just recently found a copy of Atheneum, Homebush, Quay & Raab, which I'd been looking for for a while

Got me thinking about Mark Dresser's Unveil - I remember reading about, but had never listened...until now...

Oh yeah, that one is a beauty - my favourite of his from that period

Cheers mate!

Seems like the sort of album you might already have been familiar with?
