My point is the media is naive, which is a lot worse. The press constantly credits Trump with motives other than his own self-aggrandizement. He is not trying to do the right thing and is simply wrongheaded. His motives are purely self-interested and his actions must be seen through that lens.

We have no insight into Trump’s mind, let’s not pretend we do. Trump “says” many things; let’s not pretend Trump’s motives are related to his empty thoughtless manipulative misleading words and focus, as Maddow does, on his actions.
