I got bored and looked into some #webtoon originals data. This is preliminary and might be subject to change but check some of this out

One of my favourite things is finding out that Webtoons have not only gotten longer since 2015 but about 7-8x longer as well

Finding out hiveworks is shutting down their physical printing is one thing. Being told by one or two people that there's a solid chance it involves a lot of internal incompetence is yikes. I wish I could talk to some more people to get a better picture of this whole thing

All in all Webtoon really came out ahead this earnings. I expect tomorrow to wake up to a positive market response

However it upsets me that JK (CEO of Webtoon) will profit massively from this after he used his previous massive payout to buy webtoon stock at bottom dollar.

More people outside of Korea and Japan are paying now. With more users paying than same time last year. They're pulling in over 6 dollars per paying user and with 1.7 million paying users outside of korea and japan the numbers stack quickly.

I should say overall this year Webtoon for the first time in a long time lost a lot of users. Like more than expected, it even happened in Korea with a 5% reduction in users QoQ.

Despite that, they still made more money than last quarter by a significant amount.
