NHC has designated a depression in the mid-Atlantic as Sub-Tropical Storm Karen. It's at the same latitude as Cape Breton, so it's sub-tropical all right! And it's expected to dissipate within 36 hours. But it will no doubt be solemnly recorded as one of 2025's "named storms" in the history books.
