BREAKING: A federal judge in Texas — appointed by Donald Trump himself — has just ruled that Trump's controversial attempt to invoke the Alien Enemies Act to carry out mass deportations is unlawful.

From the Department of Don't Believe Your Lying Eyes:

“They looked, and on his knuckles he has ‘MS-13,’” the president said in the interview. “He had MS-13 on his knuckles, tattooed. … It says MS13. … Go look at his hand, he had MS13. … He had MS as clear as you can be.”

Is he stone stupid?

Any dog lying in a comfy bed will growl if nudged to get up out of it. That's just a natural reaction. We like comfort, we don't like change and discomfort. But the path to living justly, for those used to privileges garnered on the backs of the poor and the living planet, is not a path of comfort.

The step from disdain towards the oppressed to violence towards those who advocate for them is a very short one.

How to say "I am a white supremacist" without using those words?

Rail against DEI.

You can love Israelis without loving the atrocities that their government perpetrates in their name.

I've been saying for 20 years that we need a new symbol of resistance to fascism, militarism, & hate. The peace symbol ☮️was good, but too focused on the antiwar movement. Everything's tied together, and the common thread is positive resistance to hate, violence, and heartlessness.

Those who are stingy are playing a zero-sum game in which one person's gain must be another person's loss.

"I must hoard, or others will get my stuff and I will go without!"

Stinginess shows in religious dogma as well as in physical goods.

"I and those with me are the only ones with the truth!"

Jesus teaches his followers to pray:

"Give us today our daily food." (Mt. 6:11 || Lk. 11:3)

This implies, "...and we will trust you for tomorrow." Jesus offers a recipe for a life of faith free of greed and hoarding.

We can pray the same thing for knowledge and wisdom--with the same benefits.
