Summer’s Eve targets women who are focused on their health and fitness with campaigns like “Wipe the Day Away From Your Vajay,” but it is deceiving consumers by using toxic chemicals that have been linked to respiratory illness, cancer, and other reproductive harm.

People shouldn’t face higher risks of health issues, like reproductive harm or cancer, because they work in a salon or a cleaning business. Unfortunately, many hair care & cleaning product companies still fail to disclose harmful chemicals, such as fragrances or formaldehyde, in their products.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. As the FDA continues to stall on banning formaldehyde in hair straightening products, children remain at increased risk of cancer through repeated exposure. This disproportionately harms Black and Brown children.

Back in 2016, WVE called out Summer’s Eve for failing to disclose ingredients and for using toxic chemicals in their products. Under pressure from WVE, our allies, and activists, the company removed the ingredients we exposed. But some companies never learn.
