Warmer above normal temperatures are on their way next week. This is showing this warming through May 18th. So I would expect mainly 70s. A couple of days could hit 80°.

I’ve seen bigger snow packs in other years Central NY. But we have had snow on the ground since January 2nd. And it has snowed 30 of the last 38 days. Parking lot snow banks keep growing. Ice dams on houses are becoming a problem, as we can’t get a good thaw.

Coast to coast there is only one 60°+ temperature in the lower 48, and that is in the Florida Keys. Still early out west, so Southern California should get above 60 too. Winter for all!

Always cool to see the edge of a lake effect band. Almost like the outer bands of a hurricane. This is looking north from the NYS Thruway in Syracuse. The band is in southern Jefferson County which is 40 miles away. Already up to 4 feet of snow in Adams Center and still snowing

Here are some of the lake effect snow totals from @NWSBUFFALO and @NWSBinghamton . Most of us saw 4-9”. Top amount was in Constableville in Lewis County with 25” and Point Rock in Oneida County with 17”. Also around 6” in Oswego, 4” in Fulton and 6.5” in North Syracuse.

Lake effect snow becoming more intense near Fulton NY as we now have a good connection to the Upper Great Lakes. Snow rates of 2-3” per hour possible within this band. The band should move a bit north toward Oswego and Parish areas over the next couple of hours.

Winter returns to Central NY with rain changing to snow tonight. Then lake effect snow Thursday through the weekend. A foot or more likely for many. Higher elevations of the southern Tug Hill will see close to 3 feet and possibly more.

No real cold air in sight. We approach 60° here in Central NY! But most of us next weekend will be 35° colder. And even colder than that for the week of Jan. 6th

Arctic air coming to Central NY this weekend. But it won’t stick around too long. Look at that Pacific Jet Stream forecasted for Christmas Day. That strong jet will pump mild air across the country through the end of the month.

Lake effect snow totals from @NWSBUFFALO These totals are from the last 4 days. Barnes Corners tops the list at 65.5”. While Montague picked up 60” and Watertown got 37.5”. The band did put down 2-4” as it shifted south through Oswego and Onondaga counties.
