They actually already added more lanes in Stamford this year I believe (for "safety"). Maybe CTDOT should look into why with 2 tracks in each direction, they are only running 4 trains each way per hour most of the time through stamford (5 if you count amtrak).

Thanks for the heads up! Just sent in an email. Really hoping the regulations come out well.

Westcog also has one seat/vote per municipality. Sherman, population 3.5k, gets as much say as Stamford, population 140k. Not a great system for democratic outcomes.

Lamont vetoes because of emails he admits are from misinformed and unrepresentative people in Fairfield county. The Fairfield county people against more housing are largely going to vote for Fazio anyways. Ned doesn't even have concrete proposals on what needs to change in the bill!

Yes, going to Tufts for grad school, I expected to ride the T a lot, but actually biking is my main mode of transport. Much faster and more convenient than transit or driving.

To me, this is the most important chart in the study. It compares the sale price of housing in these zones before and after redevelopment. For 2-unit projects, the price of the new homes is 80% higher than the original house. This falls as the number of replacement homes rises.

I'm actually somewhat ok with 2 or 4 acre zoning for mcmansions in the northern parts of town. I would rather us focus on building up close into town, where there are alternatives to driving. But it is absurd when people complaining about the size of the Vue, when things like this exist

Not to mention, variable tolling could ease the insane congestion that occurs at peak times. Tolls could be a huge boon for all road users.

Definitely related to the rise of podcasts as a news source. I love Odd Lots, and it is generally BS free, but you can see how much easier it is to say untrue things on JRE that people then believe

Especially unfortunate because I think the proposed project was actually a pretty smart way to preserve the structure while adding housing. Currently the back of the lot is just a surface parking lot and a shed, nothing of beauty or historical significance.

Yeah, for sure. I am thinking of doing an op ed in the newcanaanite, or at least a thing on medium.

Honestly does seem like most people on P&Z in NC are well meaning, but hesitant towards any changes. There are definitely people, like Maria Weingarten, who are militantly antidevelopment. Luckily she is on BoF not P&Z. I hope they upzone town significantly, our downtown has so much potential

Also forced them to get rid of most of the retail on a parcel currently used as commercial... right near their main retail street. Why???
