We are a nonprofit based in Warren County, NC, which is known as the birthplace of the environmental justice movement. In 1982, 523 individuals were arrested in peaceful protests to stop a toxic-waste dump in our low-income, majority Black community.

On Oct. 6 in Asheville, NC, the Warren County Community Center was awarded the Preservation North Carolina's 2025 Stedman Incentive Grant. The grant was given to recognize and assist nonprofit organizations in their efforts to preserve the state's architectural heritage.
