I'm pretty sure I know what an orange looks like... And it ain't this

It's oriented 90deg and just that corner? The biggest difference seems to be that you have deemphasized the galaxy cluster in front and you have enhanced the back ground galaxies. Is it using the same image from jwst, but you've just processed it differently? Makes it much easier to see!

I see

Looks like there are a few more in there as well. Is that jwst so focused it only shows that small region?

I see they can use spectroscopy to id them. The diff paths take different time, would be interesting to see if you can see a significant change in properties between them, especially if you can pick up a really early one

Thanks for that paper, was nice to see the different copies labelled! Most of the copies found there were quite compact - not the ring like ones in your image. Maybe because it was HST and it can't pick them up, looking forward to seeing a similar analysis of this cluster!

Also, I'm guessing the further out they are from the centre the further behind the close cluster they are. The one behind the lens flare on the left must have quite the z then?

Is each concentric circle a different galaxy being lensed, or is it the same one multiple times (or some combination?) Seems like I can see half a dozen or so!

It seems quite different though. That case prohibits members from halting specific executive actions, this case is about the executive halting Congress from performing their duty. It's similar but a sensible court would see the difference here, you'd think.

"America party x" reads like "American History x", which are the vibes I'm getting tbh

How do such procedures get determined? Is it explicit, or just through precedent?
June 28, 2025 at 4:28 AM
Kavanaugh seems to say that a universal injunction can still be granted by the supreme court. It doesn't seem to say what the procedure for this would be. If a lower court can't grant an injection, do claimants go to the supreme court right away? Does a lower court need to rule on something first?

The annoying thing about this, is that he agrees with the prognosis, just disagrees with the solution. But, in that post I didn't see a single solution that he wants adopted. It's obvious he just wants the status quo to remain, which makes one think he isn't actually on board with the prognosis.

Actually cost per hour might be more like 130k, so it is double! Still less than half that figure though...
June 25, 2025 at 7:03 PM
There are actually 6 holes there, and they put 2 bombs down each hole. Each bomb is like 4mm each so that's 50mm. Flight cost was 36 hours * 6 aircraft * 65k per hour, so like 14mm. Double that and you are still under half that figure. Not saying it's cheap but you are probably 2x over!
