Okay, one more. An obscure tile-matching game originally developed for the Dreamcast in the noughties but given a free Windows port in 2011 or so by the name of Wind and Water Puzzle Battles. Although the developers, Yuan Works, haven’t updated their site in some time, it’s still available.

And don’t get me started on visual novels, which I love but are little known in the Anglosphere. There are a few famous ones, but many obscure gems. I’m kinda obsessed with the Narcissu VNs which tell the (fictional) stories of disabled and terminally-ill young adults in a quite affecting way.

I tend to love indie games or games in genres that aren’t very popular (at least in this time and place), so lots of my most cherished games seem fairly little known.

But how about the Deadly Rooms of Death series? I basically never see it mentioned anywhere. But it’s SO good.
