Some things I have to assume with this:
>Caine is an AI, or pretty close to one. Needs a human contemporary to operate fully, and got out of control

The violence is also important, as Cain killed his brother.
And while he doesn't understand them, Caine might be instinctually trying to get the balance back.

That's why he wants to understand his former peer's side, so they can work together again and keep the Circus from imploding.

Now we get to Daisy Bell. Caine has only verbally threatened to kill one character. A character who has constantly avoided playing Caine's games, who frustrates him to the point of violence and fear.
But Caine CAN'T run the Circus alone. That's why he's breaking down. He doesn't have his Abel.

Bubble is also a possibility. He (important, C&A were brothers) is always around, and is connected almost literally to Caine (tongue gag etc.). What if Caine didn't *kill* his Abel, but wanted a SUBORDINATE, rather than a peer? He wanted to run the Circus on his own terms, and Bubble is what's left.

Kinger is an obvious choice. He has admin, spent 15 years developing the program, and has no idea who he is. Was it jealousy due to Queenie? I don't think so, there's not much else to it. Kinger IS important, but isn't Abel, imo

This is like a much more polished iteration of something I thought about a while back too, having a base skeleton and different armor sets. Very cool
