I set up a medium format 102 megapixel, Fuji GFX 100s camera before the sun went down. Then at 3:30AM I shot 15 exposures with each exposure being 13 seconds long. Later I stacked all the exposures together, filling in what the human eye couldn’t see creating the Smithsonian Magazine cover photo.
I also got the cover shot! (My first Smithsonian Magazine cover!!! 😁)
I spent the night a 100feet up in the cave dwelling Tse Yaa Kin to capture the Milky Way with the ancient dwellings. To do this I had to calculate when the Galactic Core of the Milky Way will be in right position for the photo.
