Anton Walbrook was a fine actor. He was fortunate enough to have collababorated twice with one of the greatest cinamatic film directors of all time; the great Max Ophuls.

But James Whale's adaptation is a great work of cinema.

It’s pretty hard for a director to beat the original.

I think you have the role in the bag. All that is needed is a studio to continue the magic.
