Tracking hope and signs of democracy
Have a feeling that most of us are celebrating that she's going away, even if she's just out of the limelight for a short while. The thought of her as a "principled maverick" is laughable.

She's in a weak position with no support. If she doesn't have Trump's backing, GOP won't put her up for important congressional roles. And progressives won't support her (rightly so). She has to pivot to be autonomous and unconfined.

MGT probably has a news commentator job lined up because she's got tea to spill. It'd be free advertising for her future presidential run.

Can we vote on it? Pretty sure after tonight we have the numbers and I know which option we'd all choose.

It would be interesting to see region by region, too. On Saturday in Portland, it seemed like we (understandably) had more signs this time that hit back at the false claims about our city, whereas in June, messages were more issues or policy-based. Also a few more frogs this time around.

Same. It made me even more mad at America for letting this happen. We knew he'd do this if given a second term <waves wildly at everything taking place>, but seeing it actually happen is always worse.

Whenever Megan McCain is brought up, I think about an exchange with Paul Begala, when he was talking about Reagan & Carter and she said, “You know, I wasn’t born yet, so I wouldn’t know about that.” Begala responded: "I wasn't born during the French Revolution but I know about it."

Same question!

I'm in Portland. It's a beautiful, sunny day. We just had the Portland Marathon with 12,000 participants. Otherwise, nothing going on here. Absolutely insane to think they're sending in the military.
