I stood up my self-host server and downloaded all of my photos to Immich and all of my documents to NextCloud.
Switch over to Android was fine, the biggest hurdle and pain point was needing Google Messages to have RCS.

@pj I should clarify: I hope they are good denizens of the community and don’t just abandon it after a few weeks. A lot of us love it here, and welcome more people on the fedi! But we have seen many waves of people who come, look around and then bail quickly; or they just use it as another place […]
