I am now reading Worst Soulmates Ever. I love it, it's so delightfully fanficcy.

Aristotle and Dante made me ugly cry, one of maybe five books to do so. And I even knew it was coming!

Entered, thank you!

Same! I know so much more about myself than I did then, I wouldn't need to seek a "useful" major like I would now, and the sort of atmosphere that supported UBI would also let me seek a diagnosis so I could get writing accommodations.

(My friend, their daughter, and I are all white)

It's not! My best friend's 10-yo may still think her parent and I are blood siblings! They are doing racism and they are doing it both badly and stupidly! This whole thing absolutely infuriates me, possibly because it shows a fundamental incuriosity (or dishonesty) about really common shit

My niece didn't know I wasn't actually related to her parent until she was 8. I have about 40 cousins, only 7 of which are first cousins. Every single one of us is white, they are REACHING.

I like the kitten picture better for comforting purposes, but here she is all grown and floofy:

This is a 4 year old picture of a friend's cat. She is majestic.

Human pet guy is here?!

Honestly? This is a major reason I want public transit; while I'm not horrendous at it, I don't have the option to stop driving.

Oh my goodness, that's actually the closest library to my house, even though I don't live in the county. I go there to sit and read occasionally, it's super comfy.

I read the poem a few years back and your reading made it so much more comprehensible! Then I'd flip to the analysis to find out the million things I'd missed.

I saw that exact thing happen on Reddit in real time a couple of weeks ago! I wonder if we saw the same thing.

They're wearing a GoPro

Oof, I should have dropped some punctuation in there.

I mentally translate this to "what I like isn't currently being served to me and I refuse to do research and find smaller/more specialized book news venues" AT BEST.

Oh, and the first time I ever heard Carmen was in Hey Arnold! That show was surprisingly good in hindsight, even if they're played the fruit episode way too much.
October 5, 2025 at 12:35 AM
I read Mary Renault's The Last of the Wine, and Raffles the Amateur Cracksman, because they showed up in fanfic.

*screaming into a pillow*

...we are all such nerds, I love it.

I have been pending since halfway through July! So jealous, congrats!

Liberal/leftist in a conservative area.

Exactly!

I've seen some recommendations for Hoopla in here for streaming, and that's true, but Hoopla also has lots of indie and self-pub books your library might not otherwise acquire
