England simply have to get better in overs 30-50, not scoring a run for 20 overs is criminal

run the numbers on his sprint velocity

Usain Bolts WR 100m sprint averaged 37.6km/hr. Let's assume his top speed is 45km/hr

A 340% increase to reach 45 km/hr would mean his sprint velocity was previously ~10km/hr. That's 6minutes/km, a very achievable running pace for a 5k for many people

you can't declare but they could have retired out as UAE did in an Asia qualifier

There was also a similar one by The Getaway (done by the Jet Lag team)

The Getaway
On a drive across the American West, six creators must weed out the “snitch” sabotaging their $10,000 prize. The twist? They’re all the snitch.

when I asked a few weeks ago, if your win probability calculator genuinely started at 50/50, this was the kind of scenario I was thinking about

Charlie Dean? I feel she's regularly played regional cricket alongside England duties, plus had a couple of seasons before England duties

against the flow of passengers coming towards you.

And train stations (like airports) should assume you don't know where anything is - if you can only change platforms easily using one exit from the platform that's bad design no matter how you signpost it
September 6, 2025 at 4:13 PM
I have genuinely never seen any signage at New Street indicating to change there, and I used to change there every few weeks. I'm not saying you're wrong but they do an awful job of helping you.
Plus if you end up at the wrong end of the platform it's easier to just go up to go down than fight
September 6, 2025 at 4:13 PM
want to change platforms? Then please leave your platform, go through the ticket barriers then go round to another section and hope that your ticket lets you through the barrier which it does maybe 10% of the time

interesting change, not sure if it's necessarily "better" than the previous setting, but I do like that the probabilities skew to the winning team

but that's probably more because I care about probability more than the design

I was thinking of it from a data point of view rather than graphic design, just that it felt odd seeing NSC having a 50% chance when they'd scored so many
August 31, 2025 at 7:14 AM
I don't actually know how best to represent it - I think that having the faded bars is a good way to indicate the fact it's too variable.

Maybe you could add a kind of error bar as an alternative?
August 31, 2025 at 7:14 AM
Potentially boring question, does the win predictor actually start out at 50/50?

I'm sure it'd be very tricky to create a system that gave probabilities based on first innings scores but presumably there's the same amount of data as for a chase

it'll be like the men's club world cup - choose the way that ensures India qualifies, and then worry about the details later
