This was our second close encounter with predatory bird species for this project. The first was doing protocol surveys for and getting to mouse a California Spotted Owl after locating the nest. I really love my job sometimes.

It looked like it's wing was hurt, and the rescuer told us it likely wouldn't have survived had we not found it, either by starvation or predation due to its vulnerable state. We definitely had perfect timing!
